Extend a workstation, switch computers, or connect multiple desks.

Three different purchases, told apart by where the computers end up and how many desks have to reach them.

Extension

The machine moves into a rack and its screen, keyboard, mouse and USB come back to the desk. A transmitter, a receiver and the cable between them.

up to 16 : 1

Switching

The machines stay under the desk or in a nearby rack. One switch puts a single keyboard, screen and mouse in front of all of them.

range  ADDERView PRO, CCS-PRO, ADDERView Secure
link  a local switch, no network involved

any : any

KVM over IP matrix

Every machine gets a transmitter and every position a receiver, so any desk reaches any machine. ADDERLink INFINITY is the managed top tier, with sharing and logging through the A.I.M. appliance.

range  ADDERLink INFINITY, ADDERView Matrix, XDIP
link  a network you provision, sized for the endpoints

An ADDERLink INFINITY pair also works point to point, so a matrix can start as two boxes and grow without being replaced. Reach, capacity and the network an endpoint needs vary by model.

// extension

One machine, one desk, as far as the cable goes.

Four things decide it: how far, how many screens, how much resolution, and what the desk has to plug in. USB is usually the deciding column. True Emulation keeps a keyboard and mouse permanently presented to every machine, so switching feels instant; HID only limits that to keyboard and mouse class; Transparent USB 2.0 is a full high speed path. A graphics tablet, a USB audio interface, a license dongle, a card reader, a webcam or a thumb drive all want more than HID.

SFP modules and rack kits are separate order codes and the right kit depends on the model. The older VGA and DVI families are still in the Adder range and are a straightforward way to match an existing room.

The choice turns on whether the screens move with the keyboard, and on whether the desk has to touch a segregated network.

Multi viewer switches

The CCS-MV range composes several sources onto one screen with control over all of them, for a desk that has to watch everything at once rather than switch between machines. Adder gives the CCS-MV 4224 and 4228 a UHD output at 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz, so match the refresh rate to what the operator is actually watching.

// kvm over ip

Any desk, any machine, across a network.

Adder builds its IP KVM matrix range in three tiers. They differ by resolution and by screens per position, and most of all by whether the system is managed.

A manager, on the top tier

A.I.M. is what turns ADDERLink INFINITY endpoints into an any to any matrix with user control, sharing and logging. Adder states it is not mandatory, because the same endpoints run point to point without it. The appliance ships licensed for 24 endpoints, with tiers at 48, 96, 192, 288 and unlimited, and a redundant primary and failover pair is licensed as a pair.

A network that suits it

Ports differ by model: the ALIF4001 has two SFP+ cages, the ALIF4021 adds two copper ports, and 10/100 is not supported either way. An SFP cage is not the same as fiber. Adder puts desktop and single screen work at 1 to 2.5 GbE and dual screen video editing at 5 GbE and above, so a plain gigabit switch will not deliver every advertised mode. We validate the proposed network against the endpoints and the workload before anything is ordered, and the ADDERView Matrix range avoids the question by shipping its own switches preconfigured.

On the managed tier the number of sources you can run is set by the endpoint license count you buy, not by the hardware. Adder rates the ADDERView Matrix user station for graphics tablets and card readers, so the matrix tier is not automatically the USB limit, and its sub one second figure is how long a source change takes rather than how far behind real time the picture runs.
