Size the router, then decide who switches it.
Choose a 12G-SDI KUMO if any single-link 4K source is in the plan, or the 3G-SDI KUMO 1616, 3232 and 6464 for an HD plant. Every KUMO has a built-in web interface; a hardware panel is for the people who switch it during a show.

Sixteen by sixteen in 1RU for a control room, truck or flypack; 32 by 32 in 2RU; 64 by 64 in 4RU for a larger plant or a stage. AJA builds KUMO without fans, which matters in a quiet room.

KUMO CP and KUMO CP2
X-Y panels that work over Ethernet with no computer. The 1RU CP has 40 buttons and reaches 32 sources and destinations with a Shift key; the 2RU CP2 has 80 buttons and eight salvo buttons, and it is the panel for a 64×64 router.
KUMO also accepts Grass Valley Native Protocol over RS-422 or Ethernet. That support is basic, so we confirm the driver for your control system first.

When the coax run is too long, go to fiber.
FiDO carries SDI up to 12G between rooms, buildings, or a field and a control room, and keeps the two ends electrically isolated. Match the model to the fiber already in the walls: single-mode FiDO reaches up to 10 km at up to 12G, while multi-mode models, for shorter runs on existing OM3 or OM4, carry 3G-SDI.

A transmitter at the source and a receiver at the far end, each a small powered box. The FiDO-TR-12G sends and receives in one unit, and the FiDO-2T-12G carries two 12G-SDI channels.
openGear cards
OG-FiDO-2T-12G and OG-FiDO-4
When the channel count grows, the same transport goes on cards in a frame. The OG-FiDO-4 family carries four channels per card, as transmitters, receivers or a mix, at 12G or 3G.

OG-X-FR
The 2RU frame for up to 20 openGear cards, with an optional second hot-swappable power supply. Cards are set up and monitored in DashBoard, the openGear control software.
For example, in a gym: single-mode fiber to courtside positions, openGear FiDO transport and an AJA KUMO router in the control room let production plug in instead of taping down cable for each game.

The converters every system needs somewhere.
SDI onto an HDMI display, a laptop onto SDI, audio into or out of the video for the mixer, one feed to six places. Several models also come in fiber versions, which saves a separate FiDO box at one end.

12G-SDI to HDMI 2.0 up to 4K 60p, with a reclocked SDI loop-out, for putting an SDI feed on a display.

HA5-12G
HDMI 2.0 in, two 12G-SDI outputs and EDID emulation, for bringing a laptop or HDMI camera into an SDI system.

Embed or extract eight channels of AES (12G-AM) or four of balanced analog (12G-AMA) on 12G-SDI, to connect a mixer to the video path.

One 12G-SDI input to six reclocked outputs, for sending a program feed to several places at once.
The base models are copper only; the -R, -T and -TR fiber versions ship with the fiber SFP fitted.

Stream the program, or record every camera.
HELO Plus is for a program feed that has to reach one or two streaming destinations and be recorded at the same time. Ki Pro GO2 records up to four HD sources at once, with redundant copies, and does not stream.

3G-SDI and HDMI in, H.264 up to 1080p60, two streams at once over protocols including RTMP and SRT, and a recording to SD card, USB or network storage in the same pass.

Four 3G-SDI and four HDMI inputs with frame synchronizers, H.265 or H.264 files to five USB ports or SMB network storage, in a half-rack 2RU chassis. HD and SD only.
AJA warranties differ by line: five years on KUMO, Mini-Converters and openGear, three years on HELO Plus and Ki Pro.
