Choose by what has to come out of the camera.
Every X Series camera sends NDI over one network cable, with SRT and RTMP streaming as well. The difference is the rest: the X1 family has HDMI and USB but no SDI, the X4 Ultra and X4E Ultra send 4K60 over NDI and HDMI and add 3G-SDI for HD up to 1080p60, and the X5 Ultra adds 12G-SDI for 4K60 on one SDI cable.
HD or 4K30 · no SDI
X1, X1 30x and X1 Ultra
HD with a 20x or 30x lens, or 4K up to 30p with a 12x lens in the Ultra. HDMI, USB-C webcam and NDI out, PoE and Wi-Fi, and an NDI decoder on the HDMI port for a return feed.
4K60 · HD on 3G-SDI
X4 Ultra and X4E Ultra
A 20x lens, 4K60 over HDMI and NDI|HX3, HD over 3G-SDI, and presenter and zone tracking. The X4 Ultra adds Wi-Fi 6 and a built-in battery for positions without cable; the X4E Ultra drops both for fixed installs.
4K60 · 12G-SDI
X5 Ultra
The indoor model with 12G-SDI, two HDMI outputs, RS-232 and RS-422 control and a 49 mm filter ring, for studios that want baseband video alongside NDI.
Power differs by model: the X1 family runs on standard PoE, while the X4 Ultra, X4E Ultra and X5 Ultra need PoE+. We check the switch before we quote the cameras.

Some positions need a different camera: a tight point-of-view spot, a broadcast or LED-wall stage, or a mount that stays outside all year.

MAKI Ultra
A compact camera with a 12x or 20x zoom, 4K60 over HDMI and NDI|HX3, and HD over 3G-SDI, for lecterns, drum kits and the top of a display. It zooms and focuses; it does not pan or tilt.

XL Ultra
A large-sensor PTZ with a second built-in panoramic camera, 12G-SDI and SFP+ fiber, genlock, timecode, FreeD and XLR audio, for broadcast and virtual production stages.
outdoor · IP66

The current outdoor model: a weatherproof 4K60 PTZ with a 30x lens, a heater and an IR laser, 12G-SDI and a fiber port, for stadiums, campus buildings and poles.
BirdDog ended production of the P Series and the A200 and A300 outdoor cameras in April 2024 and continues to support them. If you own them, we quote their mounts and accessories.

Run the cameras from a keyboard, or a panel you already use.
The KBD gives an operator a joystick, a zoom rocker and shading knobs, a five-inch screen with up to four live camera previews, and control of up to 255 cameras over NDI, VISCA over IP, ONVIF, Pelco or serial.
Connected to a TriCaster or vMix, the KBD screen shows which camera is on air. X Series cameras also take SKAARHOJ, Stream Deck and other controllers, and BirdDog Cam Control on Windows or Mac handles shading from a desk.
