Panasonic KAIROS, from source list to control room.

KAIROS is Panasonic's IT/IP live production platform: a switcher that builds each scene from layers on a GPU, mixes SDI, HDMI and SMPTE ST 2110 sources, and feeds screens of any aspect ratio. We help you decide whether KAIROS fits, size the core, panels and network, and install it, with operator training and ongoing support scoped in the proposal.

The KAIROS lineup

Every current Kairos Core is a 4 RU mainframe with dual power supplies. The model sets the canvas size, how many sources each kind of connection carries, and what keeps running if one network fails. Panels and software decide how your crew operates it.

  • Black 4RU rack-mount mainframe with a perforated front panel, seen from the front left

MainframesKairos Core 200 and Core 2000

The same 4 RU chassis and software. Core 2000 adds the larger canvas and more streaming inputs, and the KC2000S2 more ST 2110 inputs.

  • Rear panel of a rack mainframe with dual power supplies, network ports, four DisplayPort outputs and three boards of small BNC connectors

    I/O boardsSDI and HDMI boards

SDI boards add 8 inputs and 4 outputs each; HDMI boards add four 4K60 ports. Each board fitted reduces RAM player storage.

  • KAIROS multiviewer: two large scene tiles above input, clip player and aux tiles, with clocks and a GPU load bar

    Built inMultiviewer and players

Four DisplayPort multiviewer outputs, up to 36 tiles each, with a GPU load meter. Still store, RAM and clip players are built in.

Control panels

  • Control panel with two fader bars, a joystick and rows of lit buttons

Two faders, 24 crosspoints and a joystick, every element assignable. The main control-room panel.

  • Compact control panel with two fader bars and fewer button rows

    Current modelAT-KC10C2

Two faders and 12 crosspoints in a compact panel for on-location venues and trucks.

  • Wide control panel with three fader bars and dense rows of colored buttons, preliminary image

    Announced, not shippingAT-KP340 and KP330

Three-M/E panels with 40 and 30 crosspoints, scheduled by Panasonic for the second and third quarters of 2027. Specifications are preliminary.

Kairos Creator

Configures the system and can run the show from a computer, on Windows or macOS. One panel or one Creator can operate two cores.

Kairos Emulator

Free from Panasonic for Windows. Operators can build scenes and practice offline, without live inputs or playback.

Option keys

Audio Mixer, RossTalk control for XPression graphics, NMOS and touch control on the multiviewer are added as licenses.

Where KAIROS fits

Panasonic does not fix the number of M/Es or keyers in KAIROS, and every input has a frame synchronizer, so SMPTE ST 2110, SDI, HDMI and SRT sources mix on one canvas.

  • Attendees in folding chairs watch a KAIROS demonstration in a green-screen studio, with multiviewer monitors, a studio camera on a tripod and PTZ cameras on the table

    Worship and live events

Image magnification, stage LED and a stream from one system, each output sized to its screen.

  • Control room desk with a KAIROS multiviewer across the top monitors, a camera controller with a joystick and smaller operator screens below

    Sports production

Score, clock, replay and sponsor graphics as layers in one scene. The limit is GPU load, and the multiviewer shows it.

  • A KAIROS control panel with rows of lit buttons and a T-bar beside two monitors showing a KAIROS multiviewer of camera tiles

    LED stages and venues

Screens that are not 16:9. One canvas feeds an LED wall, a ribbon and a broadcast output, each at its own resolution.

    Campus and esports

Start on SDI and HDMI boards, then add SMPTE ST 2110 and ST 2022-7 redundancy when the network is ready.

Figures are Panasonic's for each model and depend on format and configuration; ST 2110 is an option on the KC200L1. Panasonic still lists earlier part numbers on some of its sites; we confirm the model that ships on a US order, and its capacities, for your source list.

What KAIROS connects to

System diagram: studio cameras, PTZ cameras and an audio system connect through an Ethernet fabric switch with a PTP grandmaster to a Kairos Core with SDI and HDMI boards, which feeds projectors, flat panels, an LED wall, a server and audio
Panasonic's example system: ST 2110 over a switch fabric, plus SDI and HDMI boards
  • Panasonic cameras. KAIROS controls Panasonic PTZ cameras and takes tally over TSL 5.0 or NDI. Panasonic cameras
  • Graphics. HTML5 graphics go straight in, including Viz Flowics and Singular.live, and KAIROS controls Ross XPression over RossTalk with the option key. Viz Flowics
  • LED walls. Brompton, Colorlight, Megapixel and Novastar LED processors are KAIROS Alliance partners.
  • Remote contribution. Panasonic lists the LiveU LU2000-SMPTE2110 as a tested ST 2110 source. LiveU
  • Control surfaces. SKAARHOJ builds Panasonic-specific panels tested with KAIROS. SKAARHOJ
  • The network. ST 2110 needs a PTP grandmaster and a 100G switch fabric, and redundancy needs two networks. We design it, or keep the room on SDI and HDMI until IP is worth it. Networking and IP

Varto Technologies and Panasonic KAIROS demo day, East Rutherford, June 18, 2025

In June 2025 we hosted a KAIROS demonstration and open house with Panasonic: a fully integrated KAIROS system running in our studio and control room, with Panasonic cameras feeding it. We design the system around your sources and screens, install and commission it in your rack, and train operators on Kairos Creator and the panel. Ongoing support is scoped in the proposal.

What to send for a KAIROS quote

  1. Your sources, by type and format: ST 2110 (HD, 1080p or 4K), SDI, HDMI, SRT or NDI.
  2. Every output: program and aux feeds, streams, and the pixel size and shape of any LED wall or venue screen.
  3. Your crew: how many operators, multiviewers and panels.
  4. The network: whether one exists, and whether ST 2110 redundancy over two networks is required.
  5. Audio, graphics and replay: what mixes inside KAIROS and what has to talk to it.

A rough source count and a sketch of the room are enough to start.

Buying questions

Do we need ST 2110 to use KAIROS?

No. The Kairos Core 200 KC200L1 ships with SDI, and SDI and HDMI boards fit the other models. A room can start on SDI and add IP later, with the network planned for it.

Does KAIROS take NDI sources?

Yes, on a small number of inputs: Panasonic lists two NDI High Bandwidth inputs and two outputs per core, in HD. If most of your sources are NDI, send the source list and we will plan how they reach the core.

Can one KAIROS drive an LED wall and a broadcast feed at the same time?

Yes. Both live on one canvas, and each output can be set to any resolution up to 9.8 megapixels in 4-pixel steps (Version 2.0 or later), so a wall that is not 16:9 gets an output matched to it. The LED processor maps that output to the panels.

Should we wait for the three-M/E panels?

Only if your operators need them. Panasonic schedules the AT-KP340 for the second quarter of 2027 and the KP330 for the third; schedules can move. The KC10C1 and KC10C2 are current models, and Kairos Creator can run the system without a panel.

Can our operators practice before the system arrives?

Yes. Panasonic's free Kairos Emulator for Windows runs some Kairos Creator functions offline, without live inputs or playback, so training can start before installation.

Tell us what goes in and what has to come out.

Send your sources and screens. We will size the KAIROS core, panels and network, and quote the installation and training you want with them.
