Sports production & replay

Multi-camera sports,
with instant replay.

Multi-camera live production for sports venues and athletics programs: cameras, switching, instant replay, graphics, and scorebug, specced and wired to run as one system and supported season after season.

Q1THE ROOM

The room the whole game day runs through.

Whether it's a booth, a truck bay, or a closet made good, the production room is the build everything else plugs into.

Seton Hall University Athletics, Mike Sheppard Sr. Stadium, South Orange, NJ. Varto designed, integrated and commissioned the room, and trained the program's own staff to run it.

Multi-camera production

Camera plans, switching, and comms sized to your venue and your crew, not borrowed from someone else's.

Venue & stadium systems

Control rooms and video systems built into the building, wired to the camera positions and the videoboard.

Q2THE REPLAY

The play again, from every angle.

Instant replay

Replays cued seconds after the play, on systems simple enough for rotating crews to run.

Slow motion

How smooth it looks depends on the camera frame rate, so the cameras are planned with the replay system.

Telestration & analysis

Draw on the play, break it down, and show the audience what happened.

Q3THE NUMBERS

The score on screen comes from the board.

Scorebug & scoreboard

Read from the scoreboard controller, so nobody retypes the score.

Stats integration

Stats from the stat crew's software feed the graphics, so the numbers update as they are entered.

Sports graphics

Team-branded packages for intros, matchups, and in-game moments.

Spotlight: Vizrt's college sports package for Viz Trio

The templates

Pre-built scorebugs and graphics in Viz Trio for baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, football and basketball. Vizrt designed them to network and conference broadcast standards; the spec that counts is the one your conference or network sets, so we check against it.

The operator

A Trio operator builds pages from the templates and takes them to air from a playlist. Vizrt designed the workflow for rotating student crews, and we train the people who will run it.

The data

Viz Datacenter carries live data into the graphics. Scoreboard OCR reads the clock and score from the videoboard through a camera, for any sport; Vizrt lists it as a limited-time inclusion, so we confirm it when we quote.

What is in the box

Viz Trio, Viz Engine, Datacenter and Viz Arc on one Lenovo workstation, licensed to that box. It outputs NDI: one preview and two program channels, each carrying its own key, and more Engines can be added for more outputs. Vizrt offers it to US colleges, universities and conferences.

Fit with your room

It works beside the switcher and replay system you already run. A TriCaster picks up the NDI graphics as a source and can fire Trio from macros; an SDI switcher needs NDI-to-SDI conversion.

Straight answers

What game-day builders ask.

Q·01Can students actually run replay during a live game?

Yes, when the system is configured simply. Replay operation is quick to teach on a well-organized system; we set it up that way and train everyone who will rotate through the position.

Q·02We're not a pro venue. Is this overkill?

The same discipline scales down. A two-camera scholastic setup and an arena control room differ in size, not in whether they work. We spec to your level and leave room to grow.

Q·03One system for basketball, soccer, and everything else?

That's the goal of the design: shared core, per-sport presets, and graphics that rebrand per team. Build it once, use it all year.

Q·04What does a replay system cost?

It depends on channels and angles more than anything: how many cameras feed it, how many outputs it drives, and whether it also serves the videoboard. Venue wiring is the quiet cost. We'll price the tier that fits your level and show you what each step up buys.

Q·05What do we need to put our games on a conference network or streaming package?

A published spec: minimum camera counts, replay, graphics, and clean program audio. Each conference sets its own requirements. We build rooms to the spec you have to hit, and train the crew that has to hit it every week.

Q·06Can the same control room feed the videoboard and the broadcast?

Often, yes. One system can drive the board, the stream and the broadcast feed at once, when the outputs and crew positions are planned for it from the start.
